About the client
The Leon Schiller National Film, Television and Theatre School in Łódź (PWSFTviT) is one of the most prestigious art schools in Poland, Europe, and even the world. For years, the university has been educating film, television, theater, and multimedia creators, offering fields such as directing, cinematography, film editing, animation, and film production.
The school is known for its high level of education and the numerous artistic successes of its graduates on the international stage. With the growing importance of digital tools, PWSFTviT emphasizes modern teaching methods, including the use of advanced graphic environments and cloud computing.
Challenge
Due to the growing demand for teaching about tools for working with 3D graphics, animation, and game engines, PWSFTviT faced the need to provide students with access to high-performance computing environments that would allow them to carry out complex graphic projects – such as working in Unreal Engine, image streaming, or collaborative editing of project data in real time.
The previous approach, based on local computer hardware:
- was expensive (purchase and maintenance of workstations with GPU cards),
- was difficult to scale depending on the number of workshop participants,
- limited the possibilities of remote collaboration between students.
The university needed a solution that was:
- secure and compliant with IT best practices,
- easy to administer,
- accessible to students without the need to install local software or own equipment with a powerful graphics card.
PWSFTviT was therefore looking for a technology partner to deliver a modern, scalable educational platform in the cloud – ready for immediate use by students and lecturers.
Main project goals
- Providing a flexible and efficient computing environment – enabling the launch of demanding applications (e.g., Unreal Engine, Omniverse, Helix Core) without the need to use local computers with GPU cards.
- Enabling remote, team-based student project work - in real time, using secure tools accessible from a browser.
- Optimizing the university's IT infrastructure costs – through the use of scalable resources in a pay-as-you-go model in the AWS environment, which avoids the high investment costs typical of on-premise infrastructure.
- Building a secure, best practice-compliant cloud environment – using automation mechanisms, network isolation, and central access management.
- Increasing the availability and mobility of technology education – enabling students to work from anywhere without having to install software or own specialized equipment.
Our solution
The Trek2Summit team designed and implemented a comprehensive and scalable educational environment in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud, fully adapted to the specific needs of PWSFTviT and the graphic tools used during the workshops.
- Cloud environment based on AWS Control Tower and Landing Zone – providing a secure, automated, and best practice-compliant multi-account environment, facilitating cost management and accounting within the organization.
- High-performance EC2 instances with dedicated NVIDIA T4 GPUs – launched in an on-demand model, enabling dynamic adjustment of computing power depending on the number of participants and workshop requirements.
- Pixel Streaming + Unreal Engine – projects created and run in Unreal Engine are streamed directly to students' browsers using Pixel Streaming technology, without the need to install local applications.
- Amazon Workspaces Secure Browser – secure, remote access to the project environment via a browser, without the risk of transferring data locally. Each student receives an individual, isolated work environment.
- Helix Core (Perforce P4) and NVIDIA Omniverse Nucleus – enabling team collaboration on projects and real-time resource sharing.

Secure network environment and access management:
- Amazon VPC – isolated network environment
- IAM Identity Center – central user and access management
- CloudTrail – auditing and activity tracking <li
Tools and services used
AWS Services:
- AWS Control Tower – for deploying an environment compliant with best practices in a multi-account architecture.
- AWS Organizations – central orchestration of the environment and policy management across multiple AWS accounts.
- Amazon EC2 (GPU instances) – instances with NVIDIA T4 GPUs, used to run Unreal Engine and support Pixel Streaming.
- Amazon VPC – providing an isolated network environment for EC2 instances and users.
- Amazon Workspaces Secure Browser – secure, remote access to the workshop environment via a browser.
- Amazon S3 – flexible and scalable storage for project data and graphic assets.
- AWS IAM Identity Center – central access management for administrators and students.
- AWS CloudTrail – monitoring and logging of activity in the AWS environment (audit, security).
- Amazon Route 53 – DNS service, enabling access to applications via human-readable domain names.
Applied tools and external applications:
- Unreal Engine – the main working environment for 3D graphic projects.
- Pixel Streaming – enables streaming the image from Unreal Engine to students' browsers in real time.
- Helix Core (Perforce P4) – version control and collaboration system for project files.
- NVIDIA Omniverse Nucleus – for managing and synchronizing 3D assets in team environments.
Benefits for the client
-
No need to invest in expensive equipment
Students can work on projects requiring GPU power without needing their own computers with graphics cards – everything takes place in the cloud, accessible from a browser. -
Fully remote and secure collaboration
Thanks to Amazon Workspaces Secure Browser and Pixel Streaming, workshop participants have access to the environment from anywhere – without having to install software and without exposing local data. -
High environment flexibility
The infrastructure can be launched and scaled dynamically – depending on the number of users and the needs of a specific workshop – which significantly reduces operating costs compared to local infrastructure. -
Compliance with good security and audit practices
Deployment using AWS Control Tower, CloudTrail, and IAM Identity Center guarantees a high level of data security and full control over user access and activity. -
Increased availability of modern tools for students
The university can conduct workshops with the latest technologies in the gaming and 3D graphics industry, providing education at the highest level, regardless of the location of the students.
Summary
The implementation of the project for the National Film School in Łódź demonstrated that a properly designed cloud environment canradically increase the accessibility, flexibility, and quality of technical education, while eliminating the costs and limitations associated with local infrastructure.
